Latest Diy...

I found time for a small Diy project this week-end!  Nothing major but I want to start updating the details in our 1980's brick colonial.  I've lately been finding that a few more modern elements in our home help make it feel larger.  So I'm on a mission to create more clean lines.  Here's a pic of our house...

This is our kitchen below.  We've since removed this lovely two toned wallpaper (don't judge, because we didn't hang it), but I've also been wanting to remove the traditional brackets that sit below this kitchen cabinet.  Also the trim just above the desk needed a fresh coat of paint.

Painting trim is so easy.  Seriously you don't even need to tape.  If you use a tapered paint brush you are good to go!

Okay isn't it already looking better?  So much cleaner, I love that!  Now the hubby needs to remove the phone jack which we no longer use - hint, hint honey I hope your reading this!  Then we'll paint again.

Okay guys, that's what's going on around here.  What details have you been focusing on in your home?  After this project, I'm moving onto trim work throughout the house.  Having fresh white trim really helps an older house feel newer.

  1. Jane, your house is so pretty, I love that classic brick exterior! Freshening up the trim always makes a big difference, especially when a family LIVES in a house and life happens there!

  4. Jane, I truly understand the need for the fresh white! My biggest deal with my late 80s/early 90s house is the cream colored light switches and outlets! I know its tedious but having white just looks so fresh and new!

  5. Your house looks great and I love the updates. The simple ones with paint are the best.:) I can't wait to see it painted.

    1. I agree, and I don't understand why someone would put the phone jack in the center of the wall in the first place! Very frustrating ;)
