Updating our colorful & eclectic dining space with new lighting...

Hey guys, I'm so excited!  We're hosting Thanksgiving Dinner this year for our entire family, so I wanted to give our dining room a quick and affordable update.  And right away I knew what our dining space needed...new lighting.  Yup, our previous buffet lamps and chandelier were very Old World.  Which was fine.  But lately the very depths of my soul is craving modern!  Well actually a mix of Modern and Traditional to better fit the style of our suburban brick colonial.

Now as much as I love the cool color trend right now in home decor.  I still love   a bold and colorful dining room. The color of our dining room is Merlot Red from Benjamin Moore.  Here it is below as an accent color along this staircase.  It's a great red.  Not too bright, with deep orange undertones, yet it still reads red.

Here's the new Pendant Chandelier I scored from Target on-line below.  It's the Kenroy Home Oil Rubbed Bronze Finish Margot 3 Light Pendant and cost just $196.20, that's a great price for a chic new chandy ;)

We have a similar off white version of this light in our kitchen, so I wanted something similar, yet different.  This one is perfect with it's oil rubbed bronze finish, and gray textured shade.

Okay, here's the new pendant chandelier in our Dining Room.  I love how it adds a mid century modern vibe to this already colorful and eclectic space!
Notice how the hutch houses a simple collection of white pottery that I've been collecting for years.  There are even a few pitchers that are family heirlooms.    Also the dark gray/brown silk curtain panels below offer contrast to the room.

Below are the new buffet lamps.  I love their bamboo like texture.  Yet another element that adds to the eclectic vibe of this space.

Below you can see I've started decorating for Fall with this simple pumpkin and faux leaf vignette.

And here's "Ellie" the elephant.  He been sitting between the two windows in our dining room for years now.  I'm actually quite attached to this little guy ;)

Okay, so what do you guys think of the new lighting?  And are you a fan of red dining rooms, or even eclectic designs?  I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  2. Thank you Ally Jo! I was nervous posting about this room. Because ideally I'd like to have upholstered seating. But we're not ready to splurge on that just yet!

    1. Your right, it is a fun style! And especially on a budget. We've chosen to splurge on other rooms. And in this space, we saved!

    1. Thanks! I really like the room, but I don't love it. With new upholstered seating....then I will love it! That's next on the list ;)

  8. Hi Jane, Love the color! found you featured at Be Colorful! When I first saw it, I did a double take cuz it looks so similar to mine, I believe it is the same though mine was Martha Stewarts who no longer sells guess she sold her line to Benjamin Moore anyways looks great! Hope you will visit me and take a look! Have a great day!
