Painting Soffits!

We made the simplest change over the week-end and are loving it!  See the wall area above the built in yet below the trim moulding?  Yup, we painted the soffit above our built-ins white such a simple update that makes a huge difference.

And here's the After...

This is such a great trick for making your built-in cabinetry look custom and taller!  We did this for our kitchen cabinetry too.  Check it out...

See the soffit area just under the trim moulding?  That used to be covered in a fruit border wall paper of all things!  That is before I removed it and totally made over this once orange and oaky kitchen.

  5. That's fabulous! It makes the ceiling look higher! Have you thought of adding some little "legs" to the bottom? I forget what they are called, but I think they are used for corner moulding.

  13. Wood countertops. They have all the elements of smooth finish and elegant looking surface but there are few things that make the granite tile more efficient and cost saving.

  17. That looks great! I have soffits in my 1986 kitchen that project out - don't follow the line of the cabinets. But I still might try it.

    1. Haha! Although I haven't seen your space. I wouldn't add soffits. Because they're typically something people don't want. But in our case, they helped our cabinets appear taller.

  19. Hi! It's the best idea to make your soffits the same color as any built-in or cabinetry. You did a great job with both! Simple solution...but hardly anyone does it. I have done so many projects in kitchens like this, helping people re-do for less (instead of a huge kitchen renovation!).

One of my projects gets so many re-pins on Pinterest. Thought you might want to see it.
