A Ceiling Fan...Revamp!

Here's a fun project the hubby and I worked on a couple weeks ago...kid 1's celing fan and mirror revamp.  We live in a brick colonial home built in the late 80's, and as you can imagine our house is chock full of outdated brass fixtures...lucky me!  So I've been wanting to revamp kid 1's ceiling fan for a few years now!  This fan was shiny gold brass, with black and blue fan blades.  Yup, Panther black and blue which was not working in my son's camo and tan bedroom!

I also wanted to add a new mirror above the dresser.  I found this mirror below while shopping our attic one day and decided it was the right size and shape for the room!

I taped her off and covered the mirror.

The garage is where I do most of my painting projects.  Spray painting is so much fun, I'm talkin' instant gratification...love that!

Here are those Panther blue and black fan blades I mentioned earlier.   Wow...that blue is bright!

Here's the brass part of the ceiling fan below.  The hubby took it apart and I sprayed it with Krylon's Brushed Metallic in Satin Nickel.  This paint sprayed perfectly and dried in less than 10 minutes too...great product!

Ahhhh...and here's the fan all painted up.  Such an improvement and the silver and black work great in the room!

Okay, we're one step closer to a big boy's room!  Next on the list, and believe me my list is never ending.  I'm thinkin' this dresser to the right is looking a little small now for my growing 10 year old.  In fact, a whole new dresser from Ikea would be right up my alley!

I'm sharing this revamp over at these fabulous day's:

  8. Jane, I might have to give you major props for this post! As I am typing this, I'm looking up at a HIDEOUS ceiling fan in our kitchen. We can't really afford to do the look I'd like, but that doesn't mean I have to stare at the brass components, right? Right?! ;)

Having a little blog party tomorrow...hope you might swing by if you have a chance. :)

  19. I'm thinking about doing this with our bedroom fan. Right now it's white and gold and I really don't want to spend $100+ on a new fan. Hit me with the truth - how long/how hard was this really? PS - LOVE your kitchen. :)

  31. That black mirror and ceiling fan are perfect for your kid's room. My old ceiling fan is not working anymore but your project makes me want to buy one again. I'm definitely gonna be looking into several axial fans manufacturers to find the perfect one for me. I guess I should also buy a new damper. Manufacturers of ceiling fans now are getting popular due to the increasing demand of their product.

By the way, Great job! Keep it up!
